BUCKINGHAM PALACE - The official London residence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and serves as both home and office and is one of the few working royal palaces in the world today. Its nineteen State Rooms form the heart of the working palace and are open for just eight weeks a year. They are lavishly furnished with some of the finest treasures from the Royal Collection.
At this year's Summer Opening of the State Rooms, the 50th anniversary of Her Majesty's Coronation will be celebrated with a display of the magnificent Coronation Dress and Robe of Estate, with the first public showing of the 30 metre Coronation frieze commissioned by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.
The garden at Buckingham Palace has been described as a "Walled oasis in the middle of London". It is perhaps best known as the setting for the Queen's summer garden parties and the spectacular Golden Jubilee Concerts. Visitors to the summer opening end their tour with a walk along the south side of the garden, which gives splendid views of the west front of the palace and the famous lake.
This year the admission price includes an audio guide - available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Japanese.
Your tour finishes here so that you can spend as much time as you wish. Disabled clients have to be pre-booked since there are separate arrangements for them at the Palace..
