In London
Loved by adults and children alike, the ever popular London Zoo, home to over 12,000 species of animals, was used for the magical scene where Harry realises he has the special powers to communicate with serpents. Feeding time for the penguins has visitors mesmerized, and there are plenty of activities that children can become involved in. Scenes of Gringotts, the wizards bank that is run by goblins was filmed at Australia House, on the Strand in London. Platform 4 at London's Kings's Cross station was used for the film's platform 9 and three quarters.

Lacock
Just a short drive from Bath is the tranquil National Trust village of Lacock, where the quiet leafy streets, lined with 16th Century cottages were used in the blockbuster film. This beautiful village will evoke memories in the minds of avid film buffs as it was also used in the period dramas Emma and Pride and Prejudice. The interior of the medieval Lacock Abbey was used as the classroom of Hogwarts school where Harry would sit with his fellow wizard apprentices. Lacock's Church of St Cyriacs also featured in the film.

Oxford University
The school scenes were filmed at much of Oxford Univeristy including Christ Church College - one of Oxford's most magnificent colleges where the University's age-old traditions still prevail. Whilst in Oxford your guide will also show some of the other colleges that belong to the prestigious University. Take a diversion from Harry's escapades and visit the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace.

Gloucester Cathedral
Further scenes of the adventures of Harry Potter and his friends were shot at the Norman Cathedral of Gloucester, where you will also find the tombs of Edward II, the first Prince of Wales, and Robert of Normandy.

Other Harry Potter locations
Alnwick Castle in Northumberland (right), ancestral home of the Dukes of Northumberland provided exterior shots of Hogwarts. The wonderful Quidditch match and the broomstick flying lessons were also filmed within the castle ramparts.
Goathland Station in North Yorkshire built in 1865, was used as Hogsmead station.
Durham Cathedral, recently voted the best loved building in Britain, provided the setting for one of the classrooms as well the memorable scene in which Harry walks through the cloisters with his owl, Hedwig.
