Your tour starts with the ancient city of Winchester, once capital of England with its fine Norman Cathedral, famous school and quaint streets that wind their way up to the castle with a round table thought to have been King Arthur's. See Salisbury's 13th century.

Cathedral, Stonehenge, Britain's most important prehistoric monument and the exquisite gardens at Stourhead or Montacute House, a magnificent Elizabethan Castle. Stay three nights in Devon or Cornwall to relax and explore the region: Exeter one of Britain's most historic cities with the Cathedral Church of St Peter, beautifully ornamented, the Castle built by William the Conqueror and the Guildhall. Visit Buckland-in-the-Moor, one of the most picturesque thatch-and-granite villages on Dartmoor. Choose from a selection of castles: Drogo, a granite castle overlooking the wooded gorge of the River Teign, 14th century Powderham, famous Cotehele, St Mawes shaped like a clover leaf and Pendennis, across the estuary - both built by Henry VIII to fortify the coast line in reaction to the Pope's crusade against him. You can also see St Michael's Mount, set high on a rock island off the mainland, the ruins of Tintagel, according to legend the birthplace of King Arthur and Restormel, a circular moated castle. On your fourth day visit Glastonbury, a town steeped in myth, associated with Avalon where King Arthur was buried; see its ruined

Abbey and Milton Lodge Gardens situated high above the Mendip Hills with spectacular views of the Vale of Avalon. In Wells see the 14th century moated Bishop's Palace and magnificent 12th century Cathedral; the West front alone features 365 Medieval statues of Kings, Knights and Saints, many life size. Bath is one of Britain's most complete and best preserved Georgian cities originally built by the Romans as a health spa, and a beautiful and lively city in which to spend the night. See the Roman Baths, the Pump Room, the magnificent Abbey, Robert Adam's Pulteney Bridge and the Royal Crescent. Return to London via Castle Combe and Lacock, two of the prettiest and best preserved medieval villages in Britain and the Avebury Stone Circle, some 100 massive Sarsen stones set in groups during prehistoric times.
